  • Jim Ford Classic

$10k to win, $1k for 15th, and $500 to start for the FAST/OSCS 410s should bring in some good names. I believe the Friday is a $5k to win as well but don't quote me on that. Should be a fantastic weekend of racing. Looking back to getting back to Fremont again.

It is hard to say what the car count will be. All Stars are in PA on Saturday and Sunday, IRA has shows in IA and MN (that will keep Knoxville types away), sounds like many of the traveling full time racers Brian Brown, Kerry Madsen, and Tim Kaeding are staying in PA for the month. I'm going with 35-42 cars each night at Fremont.

Rich did a nice job on the track surface this past weekend & recent weeks cutting the curb down, it just makes for more racing room more passing and less damaged cars! I'm sure there will be plenty of great cars for this weekends event!
as far as the shady rain out, well its business lots of $$$$'s involved be glad it on the schedule!

I believe Michigan has wrapped up their season so might see Ruhl and Blonde? And probably some other Michiganders as well unless there is something going on up north I'm not aware of.

Canadian Nationals are at Ohsweken this weekend so that will take any top 360 guys in the Ohio and Michigan area and MTS nonwinged runs Crystal on Saturday. Ruhl is going to Canada and Blonde could be a possibility for Fremont.

34 - 36 cars would be good. 4 full Heats and a 14-16 car B Main. This past Saturday they were working the P.A., announcing all the extra cash that companies have added to the overall purse ( Heat Race money and etc ). It's early but the overall forecast is looking good at present. I can easily see a dozen non regulars attending these 2 events.

I honestly think there will be about 45 cars there. Not to mention a good count of 305s and dirt trucks probably in the mid 20s for both of them as well. Regardless, it looks like this will be a very good event for Fremont this year but that damned r___ better stay the hell away.

Good racing Friday night. 39 410's and 29 305's. Nice work by Tim Shaffer, coming from near the back to take the lead near the end. For most of the race, Aaron Reutzel was possibly the fastest car out there until the cushion started to wear thin in turns 1 & 2. Overall, a good night. Weather looks great for the big one on Saturday.

The Jim Ford Classic weekend proved once again that All-Star or WOO sanctioning is NOT re4quired to produce a great race. With 40 quality 410s and 30 305s what more could one ask for? Tim Shaffer came from the back both nights. A local took home the $10,000 main prize. Really great racing took place. A good track and no dust.

Great job Fremont Speedway. Hats off to Rich Farmer and his crew.

Eroc and his ilk proved to be the real losers by staying home.

The event produced more 410 Sprints than I thought it would. The track had good moisture and no ruts. Both nights produced competitive racing in all divisions. Weather was great. The additional cars ( vistiing teams ) consisted mostly of high end teams, so it was at the very least equal in depth to an ASCOC event. A successful weekend.

Was there Saturday was a great race! Was awesome to see Shaffer have to climb through the pack last night. Also, impressive night by all of the locals. Schuerenberg and Reutzel both didn't make feature and that's amazing. Show's how strong the cars are in Ohio. I really enjoyed the event and was the best the track has been with me there. Also, I think that was the first time I've ever seen Shawn Valenti get passed in the dirt trucks (although he still won). Never seen him make a mistake like he did Saturday when he jumped the cushion. My girlfriend said that was one of the most entertaining nights of racing she's been to and I was happy to hear she enjoyed it just as much as I did!

Tracy Hines also didn't make it. I didn't really find it impressive at all about Shaffer, I expect him to do that but there was about 6 cars that he didn't pass.

My girlfriend actually caught Tracy Hines signed frisbee too. That was pretty neat. Usually sit too far up that nobody can actually throw stuff to where we get anything.

Cool deal. We were under the main stands up in turn 1 & nothing even came close. the 1st guy did get some in the lower part then started just throwing them to the box seats & I think it was a flagman grabbed a bunch & started coming towards turn 1 but I don't think any of those made it past the box seats.

Watched a guy at Millstream 1 night get escorted out of the place because he grabbed a Frisbee out of a kids hands & there was a few people telling him what they thought of him.
