With Moler's cancellation yesterday and the last race of the year occurring at Midway (Stocks & Compacts) I can finally post the final tally of the year for race winners. This year, i expanded to include the Late model and Modified divisions in addition to the 4 divisions of sprints which compete in Ohio. I would like to note that the RUSH Sprints were not included in this tally. I would like to hear input as if I should include this in the Non-Wing division for next year, or make an entirely separate division for them. Due to their ever increasing presence in Eastern Ohio with expanding to running more shows at Sharon.

Without further adieu, here are final stats for winners on the season. Split events such as the world 100 prelims, SCWC prelims were included as they still have a large field of cars and a feature. Typically more cars than a regular event does.

That's because people want improvements, but only if it is the ones that they want and aligns with their beliefs. If the ideas and rules created do not align with those beliefs then that is where the complaining comes from. Over the past several months/years I have heard multiple opinions about safety and what should or needs to be done so on and so forth. However a majority of them do not have a dollar or even their life at stake in those decisions. Some things from a whole re-design of tracks & cars to just simply slow the cars down. We the problem with re-design of anything is it might not fiscally be possible and the problem with slowing them down is there are plenty of smart people out there that will figure out ways to speed them back up again. It is their job

Situations like this with councils/committees, its fine as long as you have discussion and no one party has more power over the other. People have to put their interests aside and do what is best overall but their again it can be a very broad view. Do they look at overall as far as people that drive for a living i.e Outlaw drivers, or the regular weekly show driver as well? I do not have a dog in the fight as I have said on many occasions, I pay for my ticket and enjoy and let the racing politics work themselves out. If that means I pay a few bucks more so that a track fixes something or offers more then fine.

Yes, car owners will have to pay for these car improvements. Just like when roll cages were developed and more steel was used for a roll cage and increased costs. A lot b*tched when HANS became mandatory.

At an owners meeting I attended a couple years ago to discuss costs, a direct quote from a multi-car team owner was "We are our own worst enemy spending more money". It's the nature of the game in the desire to win.

Promoters will need to pay more purse to be competitive to attract a decent field and improve their track. It's a vicious cycle. However, I would rather more money spent in safety than other areas.

I have heard people say they want to get a race car, but they can not afford to buy the enclosed trailer and everything to fill it. Since when did it become mandatory at your weekly race facility that every team have an enclosed trailer or semi with their entire garage with them and back up cars? Nice to have at the track: or course, necessary to compete, no.

You mean like trying to better sprint car racing such as track safety, car safety, and universal rules that could make the sport better for tracks, drivers, owners, and fans.

This group could look at video or be at a track and have 20 people in the business give honest opinions on what a track could do to help their safety along with maybe getting a fresh pair of eyes and opinions in a group setting that might help or convince a track some changes should be addressed or a priority.
