  • Steel City Stampede delivers again

One of my favorite events every year delivers again. Car counts were great in most divisions, The track was racey all night. Aj Flick spun out in the first few laps and then charged up to 5th from the tail. desperately needed a caution to bunch back up the field but never got one and Bowser lapped up to 6th place to run away with the win. The super lates had a dramatic finish with #111 of matt lux beating #72 of Norris to the cushion in turns 1 and 2 with a few laps left and hung on to get the win. The big blocks delivered with the #165 of king running out front with track champion #6 Williamson on his bumper the whole race and narrowly held him off winning by a foot. In the crate lates #56 of russ king had the car to beat but towards the end of the race you could literally hear his motor coming apart and it finally blew up with a few laps to go and the #11 of water got the win. the other divisions all had good races and high car counts. 300 cars including the endure cars and the food at lernerville is the best anywhere. steak on a stick and 10 features is the best way to end my race season every year. If you like end of the year blow outs with tons of cars and racing then put the steel city stampede finale on your schedule next year. Not for everybody especially those who only like 30 quality cars and see one feature and be home at 10pm. Although the 410,super late and big block features were over by 8-8:30pm. For $25 that's worth the price of admission alone. Staying for the crate lates, rush modifieds, 305 sprints, dirt car modifieds, street stocks, 4 cylinders, non qualifier crate late feature and 100 lap endure is up to you. Cant wait for next year.

Glad to hear that their annual event went well. I think it's a good idea for race tracks to have unusual ( but meaningful ) events to close out the season. We need some of these in Ohio, particularly with the temps staying warmer longer in early Fall.

Wayne County does a similarish event although not as dramatic in car counts with the Dirt Blowout. Atomic attempted the fan fest this year but didn't seem like they really got car support car count wise, not sure about fan count.
