ATTICA, Ohio – Due to scheduling conflicts, Attica Raceway Park has cancelled its season-ending awards banquet for 2016. The point fund money will be sent to the race teams soon, according to Rex LeJeune, Attica Raceway Park Director of Operations.

The top 10 in points in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 410 Sprints will share in the $22,000 point fund with champion Byron Reed taking home $8,000. The top 10 in points for the Summit Racing Equipment UMP Late Models will share in the $15,000 point fund with champion Matt Irey earning $5,000. The top 10 in the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints will share in the $10,000 point fund with champion Paul Weaver earning $3,000.

The rookies of the year in all the divisions – Trey Jacobs, 410 sprints; Matthew Chapman, late models; and Trevor Baker, 305 sprints – will receive their rewards at a later date.

Attica Raceway Park’s 2017 awards banquet will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 and teams who plan to battle for the points titles are asked to plan accordingly.

Attica will kick off the 2017 season on Friday, March 24.

A recap of the top 10 in points in all three divisions will be released in the coming weeks.

On Tuesday before the Royal with wed. rain date.

Lima might just might look into that parking lot drainage issue after all.

I wonder if this means there will be an extra All-Star date at Limaland in 2016 as well?

ATTICA, Ohio – The Brad Doty Classic has become one of the “must win” races on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series schedule and rightly so. While also honoring one of the best drivers who ever strapped in a sprint car, the event has also created some of the best racing highlights in the sports history since its inception in 1989 at Attica Raceway Park (fans remember local racer Alvin Roepke screaming “Holy moly, I won the Doty,” in victory lane at Attica in 2002).

And now the Brad Doty Classic is coming home – back to Attica Raceway Park. “Ohio’s Finest Racing” speed plant will host the 28th edition of the event after a 10 year run at Limaland Motorsports Park.

"I am very excited that the Brad Doty Classic is coming back to Attica Raceway Park, but I really appreciate everything that all the staff at Limaland Motorsports Park has done over the years to grow the race into the big event that it has become,” says race co-promoter, Brad Doty. “I will miss working with all of them!”

Unfortunately, many circumstances and situations have led everyone involved to agree…and it was a team decision…to move the Brad Doty Classic back to Attica. Situations like the rainout of the event in 2015, Eldora Speedway announcing an added Thursday night race before the Kings Royal in 2016, which affected the rain date at Limaland, as well as the fact that event has grown so big there is no more room to park cars and campers at Limaland, are just a few of the reasons that led to this decision

“I look forward to working with John Bores, Rex LeJeune and everyone at Attica Raceway Park and I'm excited to be bringing the Brad Doty Classic back home," stated Doty.

Dr. Jeff Jarvis of Limaland Motorsports Park adds, "Brad Doty is a great partner and friend of ours, and this year's rainout upset me… especially for Brad. The fact is the Brad Doty Classic has outgrown our facility at Limaland Motorsports Park. By moving the Brad Doty Classic to Attica Raceway Park, you have more seating, more parking and camping spaces and less of a possibility of a rainout on the fairgrounds. All of these things along with Eldora's announcement make it an easy decision to move the race to Attica. The last 10 years of the Brad Doty Classic at Limaland Motorsports Park have been fantastic and have helped put Limaland Motorsports Park on the map. But bottom line, I believe this move is in the best interest of everyone involved and will allow the Brad Doty Classic to continue to become an even bigger event,"

"We are thrilled with the return of the Brad Doty Classic to Attica," stated Attica Promoter John Bores.

"It has become one of the premier events in the country and we look forward to working with Brad. We thank everyone at Limaland for helping make this possible," added Attica Director of Operations, Rex LeJeune.

The 2016 Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic presented by Racing Optics will be held Tuesday, July 12 with a rain date set for Wednesday, July 13. The race will again be sanctioned by the World of Outlaws. Reserved seating and more information will be released soon. Kudos to you, saphead, you scooped Liskai on this story. What happens to May WoO race at ARP? Barring rainouts ARP could have 5 Allstar races and 2 WoO races. Well played ARP management!

              • #8
I thought I read or heard somewhere that Attica would not be keeping the May WoO date. I'd like to see Lima pick it up.

My guess is Fremont is picking up that date. They announced the outlaws would be back in 2016

Hopefully they run a support division with it.

Yea always like seeing the late models with the outlaws when they are in the area ... good call!

Ya cuz Outlaw fans are usually late model fans....good call!

Maybe it'll be modifieds if rumor I heard true. Heard Attica dropping trucks since so few when they run them and adding modifieds. I don't see it happening but guess never know

                          • #14
Modifieds would be a great support division for the BDC. The midweek date would mean the Lima/Eldora mods would be available. ARP hasn't had mods since the UMP Summernationals in 2014.
