ATTICA, Ohio – If you are a dirt sprint car fan or you like the rumble of late models, Attica Raceway Park will satisfy your need for speed in 2012.

Ohio’s Finest Racing venue has 21 exciting nights of racing action planned with some of the biggest names in sprint car and late model racing to pay a visit trying to collect the over half million dollars in prize money.

For the sprint car fans, besides the weekly winged O’Reilly Auto Parts 410 Sprints and Fremont Fence 305 Sprints, there are several big shows planned. The University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions will visit Attica four times in 2012, including the traditional HD Supply Spring Nationals on Friday and Saturday, April 6-7; to kick off the 30th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek on Ohio Caterpillar Night, Friday, June 22; and to wrap up the track’s season with the Attica Ambush on Baumann Auto Group Night, Saturday, Sept. 1. Selling because these are simply too big for the garbage GM intake we have to run on the Lima/Eldora cars. Should run VERY well with the intakes the trucks allow.

Heads - Pro Topline (the good austrailian castings) 220 intake runners, 64cc combustion chambers. 1.550 roller springs, steel retainers (new), 2.08/1.60 stainless valves. Scorpion roller 1.5 roller rockers, roller lifters, roller cam (spec'ed by Kercher).
$1000 - this is a steal, and a LOT less than I am spending on a new top end. Throw a claimer bottom end together, and have a motor very capable of winning features for a song.

In January of 2004 with the help of Guy Stockbridge and eventually Chris Luck in 2006, I set out to build a World of Outlaw sprint car team capable of winning the World of Outlaws Championship. Over the past eight years, seven seasons of Outlaw competition, the team we created through hard work and sleepless nights has finished in the top-five seven times with three runner up finishes and recently two championships in succession.

Along the way, we had the opportunity to work with some of the finest individuals in motorsports and have made friends for life that we will cherish forever. Many of these folks worked daily within Elite Racing and many were sponsors and supporters that made our dreams reachable through their belief in our marketing and performance capabilities.

This off-season has been like all the rest, filled with obstacles and challenges that force you to analyze your current position and also your short and long term goals. As many of you may know, my wife and I started a family on the road almost five years ago and we have been blessed with two beautiful little girls who not only love their mom and dad, but they love the races. When we decided to have a family, we promised ourselves that when it was time for our children to start school the road would no longer be our home. In just eight short months, our oldest will be starting school and life as we know it will once again change.

Events that occurred over the winter months have given me the opportunity to take a good hard look at where we are in life and where we want to be. In this process, I have learned that it is time for me to be at home and although sprint car racing has given me so much, it can never give me what attending my daughter’s sporting events and taking them camping will. It is for this reason that I have decided to depart from my professional career on the road and embark on a new challenge as Dad and Husband. It is time for me to build a career outside of racing that will allow me to fulfill my commitments to my children and wife both financially and in person.

It is my passion for this sport, our team, our sponsors, and the fans that has made this decision very difficult and at times unimaginable. However when I imagine my daughter winning her first game and not being there to tell her good job, I see the reality of what life is all about. The sport of sprint car racing is a wonderful thing and has taken my family all over the world. I look forward to continuing my involvement when time allows whether I am driving, tuning, coaching, or whatever I can do to give back to the sport that has given so much to me. Companies often restructure in order to make it to the next level and that is exactly what I am doing, restructuring my priorities so that we as a family can reach the next level.

I cannot say thank you enough to all of those that have been a part of Elite Racing, my teammates, our owners, our sponsors, our fans, and the World of Outlaws. It has been a great adventure and I look forward to putting on a helmet in three months, six months, or even a year, and participating in a sprint car event somewhere in the world just for fun! Because at the end of the day, that is what sprint car racing is and that is why we all love it!

With that being said, we still have business left to do. To show our appreciation to our sponsors and fans we will be running the “Allstar Appreciation Tour,” presented by Allstar Performance. We will be racing the first 14 races of the 2012 World of Outlaw season beginning in Volusia County on February 15th and ending at the famed half-mile in Napa Valley Calistoga Speedway.
50th ANNIVERSARY OF USAC RACING TO BE CELEBRATED IN GRAND STYLE

Minimum $10,000 Payday Awaits Victor of 50-Lap Main Event

ROSSBURG, OH (Feb. 3) – In celebration of the 50th anniversary of USAC (United States Auto Club) Sprint Car racing at Eldora Speedway, one giant night of racing, Saturday July 28, has been inked. It will live up to the traditional Eldora standards of greatness, complete with a 50-lap finale to honor the benchmark occasion. Completing the doubleheader program will be the winged National Racing Alliance Sprint Invaders, as announced this week by Eldora general manager Roger Slack.

“Fifty years of history, memories and traditions just can’t go unobserved – this calls for another fabled Eldora Experience,” stated Slack.

A whopping minimum $10,000 payday awaits the victor of the grueling chase around Eldora’s fabled high banks with $2,000 earmarked for a tenth place finish and a minimum of $1,000 to start the historic main event. In continuing with Eldora’s respected trend of putting showmanship and excitement to the forefront, a special event format is being developed and will be released soon.

“The partnership between Eldora and USAC has been magic; one that has produced multiple storylines since that initial April 1962 event won by Stan Bowman. Non-winged Sprint Car fans have been clamoring for more USAC Sprint racing at Eldora and this will certainly whet their appetite,” continued Slack in making the announcement.

Kevin Miller, CEO/President at USAC shared the excitement, "Eldora Speedway has seemed like home to USAC participants since its first USAC race in 1962," says Miller. "The history established there in the past 50 years is incredible and we certainly look forward to another 50 years of the same type of excitement the track has always generated. We salute Eldora for this initiative of honoring this rich tradition and expect a stellar field of drivers and cars for what will most certainly be one of the track's signature events."

Since Bowman took that checkered flag in April of 1962, another 180 USAC National Sprint Car races have been contested, with 70 different drivers tasting the flavor of an Eldora victory.

That win list is populated with many of the greatest names in open wheel, non-winged Sprint Car racing; including drivers that have gone from USAC events at Eldora to heralded National events such as the Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500. Recognized names include Gary Bettenhausen, Mario Andretti, Roger McCluskey, Johnny Rutherford, Larry Dickson and of course, current Eldora Speedway owner and three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart.

Atop the list is a name even more common and recognizable to grassroots fans – Jack Hewitt from nearby Troy, Ohio. The colorful and outspoken Hewitt has amassed 13 USAC Sprint Car wins at Eldora, four more than his nearest rival, Larry Dickson.

Additional details and ticket information for the storied event will be released through the track’s website http://www.EldoraSpeedway.com. The targeted date for ticket sales is Monday, March 19; through the Eldora box office at (937) 338-3815 or online.

National Speed Sport News To Return

Turn 3 Media, LLC Announces a New Era for National Speed Sport News, Launch of SPEED SPORT Magazine

February 2, 2012

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — With an all-new monthly print publication launching in March and an aggressive plan for the future, Turn 3 Media, LLC, is bringing back the National Speed Sport News brand, identified for its namesake weekly newspaper that was widely recognized as the “Bible” of American auto racing news.

Turn 3 Media, LLC, a North Carolina company founded by publishing veteran Curt Moon, former SPEED executive Joe Tripp, and motorsports television personality Ralph Sheheen, has acquired the exclusive rights to National Speed Sports News from The Kay Publishing Company.

Founded in 1934 and edited by “The Dean of American Motorsports Journalism” Chris Economaki beginning in 1950, National Speed Sport News ceased publication of its venerable weekly newspaper following the March 23, 2011 issue.

While the realities of the publishing world, which contributed to the demise of the newspaper, haven’t changed, the Turn 3 Media partners are confident the new National Speed Sport News will succeed.

“We’re starting with a clean slate,” said Tripp, “building upon all that was great about the former publication by expanding the content and delivering it through a broad variety of platforms relevant to the times. Specifically, we will provide race fans with credible and timely coverage of all forms of professional motorsports – two wheels and four – on everything from mobile (SPEED SPORT Mobile), tablet (SPEED SPORT Digital Edition) and web (http://www.nationalspeedsportnews.com) – plus a new magazine that will be available in print and digital editions.”

“We listened to our fans – and while most are getting race results and breaking news online these days, they still really wanted a print edition.” explained Moon. “The new monthly SPEED SPORT Magazine will include exclusive stories and interviews, thought-provoking editorial, and a comprehensive view of all motorsports not found in other publications.”

For many years, former National Speed Sport News Editor Chris Economaki was a fixture on national television. With his iconic voice and unique style, Economaki was unparalleled in the business. Most of today’s motorsports journalists and personalities credit Economaki with forging a path for their own careers.

"The first nationally televised race broadcast I was a part of more than 20 years ago, Chris Economaki was my colleague on pit road,” explained Sheheen. “Chris set the standard for motorsports journalism on TV and with National Speed Sport News. We have assembled some of the best writers and reporters in motorsports to continue that tradition. We'll be giving our readers insightful and thought provoking commentary and features on every form of motorsports involving cars, motorcycles and anything else that belches flames, slings mud or singes the asphalt."

As Publisher, Sheheen will manage the editorial direction of the new SPEED SPORT Magazine and will help drive reach and brand awareness through his extensive television exposure. He will also lead efforts to expand the brand into video and television media.

Readers will benefit from the continuity of an editorial staff led by Editor in Chief Mike Kerchner, who has served NSSN continuously since 1991.

“I think our readers will enjoy seeing the familiar faces, names and opinions with which they have become accustomed through the years,” said Kerchner. “SPEED SPORT Magazine will deliver racing information to its readers in an updated manner and style, but we’re confident it will have the same warm, fuzzy feeling that readers have enjoyed when finding National Speed Sport News in their mailbox for nearly 80 years.”

SPEED SPORT Magazine will debut with a March Season Preview issue, exactly one year after the original National Speed Sport News ceased publication.

Subscriptions to SPEED SPORT Magazine are available for $24.95 per year for 12 issues. A digital edition of the magazine will be available for $12.95 per year. Access to http://www.nationalspeedsportnews.com will remain free.

Turn 3 Media is planning to announce more details of its plans during Florida Speed Weeks later this month.
